World-class runners from India and across the globe will take to the streets for the Mumbai Marathon 2026 on Sunday.

The Mumbai Marathon is a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race and will flag off from the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

Live streaming and telecast of the Mumbai Marathon 2026 will be available in India.

Seven-time Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse of Canada is the official ambassador for the 21st edition of the Mumbai Marathon. More than 60,000 runners will participate across categories, with a record 14,059 runners taking part in the full marathon for the first time.

Mumbai Marathon 2026 also features the Half Marathon, Open 10K, Champions with Disability Run, Senior Citizens’ Run and the Dream Run events.

The half-marathon will flag off at the Mahim Reti Bunder Ground, while the rest of the events start at CSMT.

The men’s marathon will be headlined by 2023 world champion Victor Kiplangat of Uganda.

Eritrea’s Merhawi Kesete and Ethiopia’s Tesfaye Demeke, who finished second and third, respectively, at the Mumbai Marathon 2025, will also be among the leading contenders on show.

Ethiopia’s Medina Armino, who finished third in last year’s Mumbai Marathon, will be a top contender in the women’s elite event.

The Indian field will be led by defending champions Anish Thapa and Nirmaben Thakor. Anish, who also won the Hyderabad Marathon 2025 title, will face competition from last year’s Mumbai Marathon runner-up Man Singh.

Nirmaben Thakor, on the other hand, will be targeting a hat-trick of Mumbai Marathon triumphs in the women’s field. Olympian Lalita Babar, also an Asian Games bronze medallist, had previously won the Mumbai Marathon India elite women’s race three times in a row from 2012 to 2014.

However, Nirmaben Thakor will have to see off competition from other Indian athletes like Jyoti Gawate and Bhagirathi.

Jyoti Gawate has won the Mumbai Marathon twice in 2011 and 2017, while Bhagirathi also knows what it’s like to cross the finish line on top, having won marathons in Hyderabad and Delhi.
