India’s Prema Rawat smashed the fastest fifty in women’s T20 cricket, reaching the landmark off just 14 balls in Uttarakhand’s match against Hyderabad in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy 2026 in Pune on Monday.
The 24-year-old Prema Rawat remained unbeaten on 50 off 14 deliveries, hitting six fours and four sixes during her knock at the MCA Cricket Stadium. Her strike rate of 357.14 helped Uttarakhand post 187/2 in their 20 overs after opting to bat.
Rawat’s 14-ball effort bettered the previous women’s T20 record of 15 deliveries, jointly held by England’s Marie Kelly, Australia’s Laura Harris and Pakistan captain Fatima Sana.
Kelly had first set the mark for Warwickshire against Gloucestershire in 2022 before Harris matched it while playing for Otago against Canterbury in December 2025.
Fatima then joined them after racing to a 15-ball half-century for Pakistan against Zimbabwe in Karachi in May this year, recording the fastest fifty in women’s T20 Internationals.
Prema Rawat walked in at No. 4 after Uttarakhand lost Neelam Bhardwaj for 19 with the score at 129/2 after 17.1 overs.
Rawat then combined with captain Raghvi Bist for an unbeaten 58-run stand off just 17 balls to propel Uttarakhand to 187/2. Bist carried her bat for an unbeaten 72 off 50 deliveries.
Rawat also made her mark with the ball, returning figures of 2/12 from four overs as Hyderabad were restricted to 98/8 in their 20 overs.
Uttarakhand won the match by 89 runs, with Rawat named the Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
Rawat made her senior India debut against South Africa during the Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year. She is a right-handed batter and right-arm leg-break bowler and also represents Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Women’s Premier League.
T20 cricket will feature at the LA 2028 Olympics, marking the sport’s return to the Summer Games after 128 years.
