Khaby Lame doesn’t need words to be understood.

The social media star’s content transcends languages, cultures and borders. Its simplicity makes the humour instantly universal.

Sport works the same way, as do the Olympic Games.

That shared universality is what makes Lame a natural choice as an ambassador for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, the first-ever Olympic event to be staged on the African continent.

Born in Senegal and raised in Italy from the age of one, Khabane “Khaby” Lame has deep ties to the host nation, while his story and cross-cultural content resonate with global audiences.

Like many creators, he began posting on TikTok during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, making videos during lockdown after being laid off from work. His creative outlet quickly began to blossom into a new and unexpected career.

Just two years later, in 2022, he surpassed Charli D’Amelio to become the most followed creator on TikTok (As of 30 March 2026, he has 160.5M followers).
